Soldered Down
Soldered-down SOMs offer reliable space-efficient, and cost-effective solution for durable designs. Permanent connection enhances reliability in shock-prone environments. They simplify manufacturing, enabling automated soldering and lowering production costs.
Socketed
Socketed SOMs enable easy upgrades or swaps without redesigning the carrier board, offering a flexible, modular design that maximises space in compact devices. They allow engineers to test multiple configurations quickly on the same carrier board, ideal for rapidly evolving projects.

SO-DIMM
A SO-DIMM (Small Outline Dual In-line Memory Module) is a compact memory module adapted as a form factor for system-on-modules to save space, though unlike standard memory, they are not universally interchangeable between manufacturers.
