With the price of the TV sets plummeting and seemingly every other film or game available in the format, it would seem that this time round 3D technology may just be here to stay.

And it hasn't just got the entertainment industry excited – from designers of industrial products to medical staff trying to visualise complex internal organs there are many professionals who could reap very real benefits from using 3D displays in their day-to-day work.
